Wind and Solar

Wind power is the current sustainable-energy darling of our area.  But solar power shouldn't get left out.

In our area, wind power can be viewed at an industrial scale, or at a residential scale.

In our area, solar power is most likely to be considered at a small, therefore mostly residential, scale.

Solar power may be considered active, whereby photovoltaic panels create a flow of electric current.  Alternatively, solar power may be passive, whereby the sun's rays are captured in a greenhouse for heating.  Passive solar applications combine well with earth-sheltering, wherein a structure is partially buried in the ground, and the great thermal mass of the earth provides a stable base temperature.
